Foot and shoe last matching and fitness evaluation for footwears are key technologies in virtual shoe fitting system.In this thesis we thoroughly studied the foot and shoe last matching problem by using related approaches including computer graphics,finite element method and physics-based simulation.Based on the final state of foot and shoe last matching,we calculated and visualized the finite element stress of the foot model.It laid an important theoretical foundation and practical basis for the establishment of the evaluation model of footwear fitness.Finally,we developed an application system which provides functions including foot and shoe last matching simulation,the finite element stress calculation and visualization.The main works in this thesis are as follows:We proposed and implemented 3D foot and shoe last matching simulation based on Position Based Dynamics.3D foot and shoe last matching can describe the fitness between human foot and shoes from the digital point of view.It's the key technology to realize virtual shoe fitting.Based on 3D mesh model of human foot and shoe last,we proposed a foot and shoe last matching algorithm based on Position Based Dynamics.The algorithm can simulate the deformation state of the foot when the foot is in the shoes.First,the foot and the last model were aligned by using Iterative Closest Point algorithm.Second,we applied the finite element method to generate tetrahedral mesh on foot model.Last,position based dynamics was applied to simulate the matching process.The experimental result shows that the method we developed can achieve automatic foot and shoe last matching.Because the deformation of the foot is following the laws of physic,the deformation state is realistic when the foot is in the shoes.The method we proposed is efficient and stable.We applied the VTK library to develop a visualization program for 3D finite element analysis.In order to evaluate the fitness of the footwear based on the final state of foot and shoe last matching,we developed a finite element postprocessing module using VTK library to visualize the stress cloud graph of the foot model,which laid an important foundation for evaluation the fitness of footwear.
