Hair modeling plays an important role in character modeling.In computer animation,video games,virtual dressing and other fields,there are large demands on various personalized virtual characters with different hairstyle.Simulation and modeling of realistic 3D hair has always been a hot topic of computer graphics research.Hair is numerous,complex in physics and a great variety,which have brought great difficulties to hair modeling algorithm.A two-phases parameterized hairstyle modeling algorithm has been implemented in this thesis.The human model scalp area has been divided in first phase.Based on this,hair growth direction in each scalp area has been controlled in second stage.The whole hairstyle modeling has been completed in the order single hair-hair bundle-hairstyle.A new shape of the head bounding box has been proposed to detect collisions between the hair and head based on the head ellipsoid bounding box.This method has used a set of inter-parallel circles to handle bounding box more precisely.Based on the characteristic in physics,a single hair has been calculated as a cantilever model in this parametric hairstyle modeling algorithm.The single hair and hair bundle have been produced with parametric control and less interaction operations.Finally the usual hairstyle modeling and simulation have been accomplished.
