3D photo realistic human body animation has been used widely in many fields such as film industry, computer animation, vision conference, etc. And Hair being a part of human body, its simulation and rendering is the most challenging problem in the computer graphics. The reason why hair simulation is a difficulty lies in the following:its simulation need almost all the knowledge about computer graphics, and the quantity of hair is too large to be modeled, and its rendering need long time, and hair varies one another in style so it hardly can be simulated using an unique method, etc. In this paper, after analysing and studying carefully the advantages and shortages of the methods have been posted, referrenced from those methods and used the geometry modeling method, A scratch based interactive algorithm is proposed to simulate hair.To start with,my work begins from 2D control hair scratch image,I have written a computer program to process the scratch.Via simple interaction with the program,3D control hair will be synthesised from the 2D control hair.Next is to propagate hair by interpolating the neighbouring 3D control hair, and the data of all the hair will be acquired. Finally the data is rendered using OpenGL and the result is the hair model has sense of reality is gained. As a whole, the main task of this paper can be divided into 4 parts such as data read of the scratch image, synthesis of the 3D control hair from 2D control hair, hair propagation and rendering in OpenGL.And the most notable feature of the mentional algorithm is simple and easy to be implemented. It can be used to produce the data used by other simulating software, and the algorithm can also be a solid fundation of the study of hair animation.
