With the widespread popularization and deep penetration of social media,users have gradually turned from active and energetically use to passive and negative use of this platform.The traditional theory of continuous use of information systems has been insufficient to accurately characterize the negative emotions and passive use of hedonic information systems such as social media.Based on this,this article first uses the content analysis method to summarize the research results about information overload,social media users' negative emotions and passive behaviors,and the use of Wechat users at home and abroad,and then points out some defects about those researches.Then we learn from the results of fatigue,job burnout and employees' negative behaviors in the fields of psychology,medicine and organizational behavior to classify the social media users' negative behaviors preliminarily.Finally,this research focusing on WeChat users' fatigue and negative behaviors,using the mixed methods of the qualitiative research based on the grounded theory and the quantiviative research by questionnaire suvery.At the first stage,this research uses the depth interview to collect correlation data based on the grounded theory.Through open coding,spindle coding,selective coding and theoretical saturation test several stages,a model of social media fatigue influencing factors and negative behaviors is developed.There have two main findings.First,external environmental factors,include information overload,service overload,social overload and system quality,affect the social media users' personal perception which include privacy concerns,platform value cognition,social comparison,perceived cost,self-control,personality traits,self-efficacy perception,immersion experience.And these two factors have direct effect on social media fatigue which have three dimensions about exhaustion of emotion,low personal accomplishment and anxiety.Second,social media fatigue further led to the users' negative behaviors,specially,different intensity and different source of fatigue caused different degrees of passive behaviors.At the second stage,for social media users' fatigue and negative behaviors like lurking,shielding,ignoring and exiting,under the context of information overload,social overload and service overload,we further explore the influencing factors of social media fatigue and its relationship with different negative behaviors based on the research results of job burnout and fatigue in the fields of organization,psychology and medicine from the cognitive load perspective.Collecting data through the questionnaire survey method,using SPSS 22 and AMOS 24 for data descriptive statistical analysis,exploratory factor analysis,confirmatory factor analysis,hypothesis testing and model fit analysis,validated the applicability and assumptions of the research model.Finally,this study found information overload,social overload and service overload have direct effect on social media fatigue.And then,social media fatigue further led to the users' negative behaviors,specially,different intensity and different source of fatigue caused different degrees of passive behaviors.The sequence of negative behaviors caused by social fatigue is: shielding,lurking,exiting and ignoring.This research refines the scientific issues from the new social phenomenon,and explores the information overload,social media fatigue and passive use of the causes,mechanisms and their general rules of influence through qualitative research and quantitative research.Looking for new explanatory variables from the negative side of continuous use of information systems,building a new theory to better reveal and explain the social media user's psychological and behavioral mechanisms.The findings will provide practical guidance for the users psychological counseling and intervention,which can also promote the sustainable development of the user's interests in the social media business ecology.
