Digital Scholarship is defined as any scholarly activity that makes extensive use of one or more of the new possibilities for teaching and research opened up by the unique affordances of digital media. These include, but are not limited to,new forms of collaboration, new forms of publication, and new methods for visualizing and analyzing data.Open data movement recently has had a deep influence on the scholars'digital scholarship activities. In order to offer high-quality digital scholarship services to the scholars, the library should systematically understand how the open data movement has influenced library services. However, currently, not only have no comprehensive services been provided, but very limited attention or systematic efforts been made to understand the influences brought by the open data movement. This paper reports one of the very early research studies, which aimed to articulate specific and pragmatic strategies for offering the digital scholarship services in the context of open data movement by identifying and understanding the influences of open data movements.Specifically, the first chapter of this thesis is an introduction. It firstly gave a brief description of the background and purpose of this research. Then following the literature review, the research design and methods were introduced. The second chapter is the introduction of the main concepts, including open data, digital scholarship and digital scholarship services. And Chapter 3 and Chapters 4 are the critical literature review. The author firstly systematically retrieved 69 articles, policies and economic reports, all of which are closely relatedly to the development of open data movement and library services.Based on PEST model, the thematic analysis pointed to 14 factors that would have influences on the digital scholarship services in four categories, which are politics, economy, education and technology.Based on SWOT model, the thematic analysis pointed to 12 factors in four categories, which are strengthens, weakness, opportunities and threat. In Chapter 5,a case study research design was adopted. This research study employed Shanghai Jiaotong University Library as the case study.Overall,11 librarians at Shanghai Jiaotong University library were approached and interviewed using semi-structured interview scripts and open-ended questions. The questions were derived from the literature review and designed based on the tentative themes and factors shown in Chapter 3 and Chapter 4.The data analysis finally pointed to 11 factors that would influence the Chinese university libraries. Finally,in Chapter 6,the author put forward four pragmatic strategies for offering the digital scholarship services based on the analysis in Chapter 5.
