With the development and progress of astronomical observation technology and equipment,astronomy research has entered the era of big data.It's a huge challenge how massive astronomical data is stored,processed,accessed,and shared.It becomes more and more difficult how to access and utilize all astronomical data because of astronomical data with unique format,variety of structures,wide variety of species and global astronomical research trend.To solve this series of problems,this paper proposes to design a distributed prototype system for astronomical information management and retrieval to achieve the storage,processing,and access of astronomical data and provide support for the research and application of astronomy.This system proposes the concept of a virtual telescope that sorts,stores,processes,and accesses a large variety of astronomical data in existence.The VOTable specification,which is an international astronomical standard data format,and cone search protocol are used to store,retrieve,and manage astronomical documents and star catalogue and spectra.The main work of this article has the following four aspects:1.Design and simulate a distributed computer system to implement distributed storage,retrieval,and management of astronomical resources.2.Establish a master control mechanism to implement information communication between distributed nodes and complete unified data call and transmission services.3.Use cone search and attribute search to search data.Use VOTable to encapsulate data and use asynchronous methods to implement query and retrieval of all the data of the catalog.4.Achieve all file management(upload and download,etc.),site management,user information management,spectral retrieval and other functions and implment a complete astronomical information management and retrieval system.There are two innovations in this study:(1)A virtual distributed system is de-signed for realizing communication control and data transmission between the master control node and other nodes and implementing transparent astronomical data access based on the VOTable specification(2)The concept of virtual telescope was proposed,providing a transparent system for storing,querying,maintaining,and managing heterogeneous data,reducing the difficulty of retrieval operations and improving the retrieval efficiency of astronomical information.
