Comparative Study On MythBusters And Just So—based On The Cultural Differences Between China And America

With the rapid development of morden economics,science and technology,production and life,human's scientific quality is increasing.It was more than 30 years ago that China realized the importance of science,began to investigate the popularity of popular science,focus on solving problems of low popularity by different methods.TV was one of the most important means of popular science.In the rapid development of the Internet today,TV 's status and functions seem to be quickly replaced by the Internet.However,its long-term accumulation of communication status remains unshakable.TV is still one of the means of communication in popular science,however,it is from the dominant position of science popularization to attaches importance to entertainment function increasingly.Different countries have different demands and positioning of TV science programs,which make them different in the process of communication and construction methods.Same as other TV programs,the science program is not only limited to the state,but also subject to culture.Based on the cultural differences between China and the United States,this paper makes a comparative analysis of science popularization programs MythBusters and Just So to find out which Sino-U.S.Cultural differences affect the popular science programs and which are the factors that affect its development by using the content analysis method to compare two programs.The research content of this paper is different from the previous research on a single TV science program,the more attention is paid to the comparison,and thinking from the perspective of cultural differences.The research found that the differences between Chinese and American TV science programs are mainly reflected in the four aspects: topic selection,making shots of TV,commentary,and professional presentation.Just So is different from the MythBusters in the specific indicators of content analysis,difference comparison and verification results.After analyzing the cultural differences in the seven aspects of the TV system,cultural context,modes of expression,mode of thinking,the individuality of culture,openness and competitive to understand the current situation of TV science programs and seeking a way out for the science and technology TV programs of China.
