Self-presentation Of Grassroots Groups In Short Videos

As the majority of the Chinese people,the grassroots embody special characteristics.Considering the grassroots in Kuaishou as the target,this paper takes the methods of participant observation and depth interview to analyze the common application of acting in Goffman's "Social Dramatic Theory".There are several steps in the microcosmic aspect.Firstly,the reason why these choose selfpresentation is analyzed.Secondly,it comes to how they take the ideal self-presentation and how they have affected the audience in this aspect.At last,the emphasis is put on the real life of grassroots and the difference between the ideal life and the real life.The paper concludes that the grassroots possess a strong desire to present themselves which has been released thanks to the new media platform.This group and its special culture,“brother” culture,draw the attention of the public.Besides,they hope to present themselves in the platform to form an ideal image and change the class,but most of them fail.
