MPB package is a free program developed by the Joannopoulos Ab Initio Physics group.It's for computing the dispersion relations and electromagnetic modes of periodic dielectric structures,and MPB has become one of the most important applications in optics,such as waveguides and resonator systems.MPB popularity because the calculation of flexible and efficient,from the beginning it was only apply to Unix/Mac OS operating system and development up to now there are Windows,Python and other versions,due to the large volume of Windows users,Windows version of the MPB for its spread and use has important significance.Existing Windows version is comparatively backward MPB 1.4 version released in 2008,and only 32 bits are available.So the user will not be able to use new features of MPB on one hand,on the other hand can't study the consumption of large memory devices.Through the cross-platform Migration of exploration and practice of software for Windows version MPB 1.5 both 32 bit and 64 bit to solve the actual problem.In this paper,main work is as follows:(1)The feasibility of transplant project was evaluated and determined by analyzing the source and target platform,evaluating specific transplantation t ask and investigating potential influencing factors.After that,the final integrit y transplant plan was confirmed based on the combination of the assessment of transplantation toolkit and the analysis of MBP characters.(2)The transplant environment is built via the Cygwin transplantation middle platform.Frist,according to the mechanism of Cygwin,we complied MPB in Cygwin under the 64-bit Windows environment,which makes MPB runs under the target platform with the help of Cygwin.Second,by completely separate the MPB from the Cygwin environment,configure the target Windows operation system and optimize the MPB itself,we implement transplant plan in real practice.(3)The transplanted MPB was tested in different aspects including graph interface,calculate the graphical output,computation capability and so on.Also,a comparative test has been conducted in both transplanted 64-bits Windows version and Cygwin-based Windows version to illustrate the practicability of the transplanted MPB.The strategy illustrated in this article successfully implemented the MPB transplantation and the usage of it in Windows 64-bits environment.But this strategy should not be limited to the particular MPB software only.From the trails and verifications of other software,we conclude that this strategy has instructive significance when transplanting a software from Unix platform to Windows platform.
