Construction Of Foreign E-book Sharing Platform In University Library

With the steady development of information technology,as well as the improvement of infrastructure,people's life and their way to access information have been dramatically changed in electronization and informatization process.Converted from the traditional information consuming from books and journals,people rely more and more on information from library digital resources now.They gradually changed their way of reading from paper books to electronic ones,which leads to the increasing demand of e-books in libraries.Although the studies from both domestic and foreign scholars show that e-books can hardly replace paper books in the latest future,users' acceptance of e-books is gradually increasing.This means e-books are becoming an important substitution or supplement of paper books.At the same time,libraries are actively building e-book resources,as responds to this growing need of e-books.In the process of constructing the e-book resource and providing the e-book service,libries has encountered many problems,especially foreign e-books.It is difficult for library to construct e-book resources.The urgent need of e-book sharing system could be showed clearly in foreign e-books,because of their high prices and strict restrictions on copyright.In the face of the above problems,it can be solved through through the sharing of foreign e-books.In the digital environment,the sharing of information becomes a common and urgent demand.As an important part of social information sharing,it is important and necessary for libraries to explore the mechanism of e-book sharing.At first,this paper studied the current situation of foreign books in domestic colleges and universities.This paper studies the status of foreign e-book procurement methods,nterlibrary loan,e-book alliance and e-book reader sharing,and introduces the function of the existing ebook sharing platform platform.Through the above analysis,it is concluded that there are many problems in the activities of e-book in China's library.Based on these,,a foreign language e-book sharing mechanism would be designed in this paper,taking university libraries in Jiangsu province as an example.This paper is divided into six parts:the first one is introduction part,which explains the research backgrounds and the purpose of this paper.By studying e-book sharing mechanism,I hope to solve the problems of library e-book resource construction,help the further development of electronic resource sharing system,and to improve the competitiveness of library in the new era as well.More importantly,I hope this paper could show some light on the developing of foreign e-book sharing system in China.Besides,it reviews studies of e-books sharing,both home and abroad.The basic research ideas and methodologies would also be introduced in this part.The second part is the concept of the identification and basic theory.It summarizes and defines related concepts and theories in the e-book sharing field,which laying the groundwork for following analysis.The third part analyzes the current development of foreign e-book in library mainly from four different perspective:foreign e-book procurement methods,nterlibrary loan,e-book alliance and e-book reader sharing,and introduces the function of the existing ebook sharing platform platform.This analysis helps to clarify the status and existing problems.After all these researches,the fourth part provides a design of a foreign language books sharing system in university library,based on a joint procurement mechanism.In this design,different functions are revealed,including an e-book borrowing system,a unified retrieval system,sharing recommendations,and the training and promoting function.In the fifth part,a module of foreign language e-book sharing platform is carried out.The sixth chapter summarizes the full text,and analyzes the possible insufficiency of the paper.
