Research On Indoor Map Design And Visualization Based On Spatial Cognition

The indoor map came into being and developed rapidly,with the increasing demand for indoor space awareness and the rapid development of indoor positioning technology.Indoor maps are the information carrier and basis of indoor location services,and the design and visualization of indoor maps would highly influence the transmission efficiency of the map information.The current researches primarily focus on positioning,navigation etc,but little attention is paid to its own design and visualization,thus affecting the indoor map product information transmission efficiency and expression.Based on lots of domestic and foreign literatures,this paper studies on the template design for the cognition and visualization of indoor space map from the perspective of spatial cognition and map perception,which including as follow:1.This paper summarizes the development status of indoor maps,and put forward a new thought to the design and visualization of indoor maps on the basis of spatial cognition and map perception.2.This paper summarizes the guiding theory and method of interior map design and expression,which including the basic theory of map space cognition,map information transmission,map visual experience and mobile map design.3.This paper has carried on the theoretical research on the related problem of interior map design.Firstly,from the perspective of spatial cognition,analyzing the characteristics of the indoor space,and from the perspective of map perception,analyzing the reading environment of mobile map,this study summarizes the main factors which influence the indoor spatial cognition.According to these main factors,the principles and steps of indoor map design are summed up.4.Researched on the selection and classification method of indoor map elements,and symbol design methods.First,the selection and classification method of indoor map elements been proposed.And then propose the idea and scheme of map symbol design according to the characteristics of indoor spatial cognition and the principle of map design.Finally,we designs point-like symbols,linear symbols and planar map symbols,using symbolic visual variables and color correlation theory.5.Three map elements are designed.Aiming at the characteristics of indoor map space cognition,A method of expressing the boundary based on the indoor space envelope,a method of highlighting the map elements based on the ambiguity of the indoor spatial cues,and a multi-modal expression method based on the complex environment are proposed.Taking the chicony square located in China Wuhan as the object,we designed its indoor maps which improve the effect of the map information transmission.The research of this paper proposed theoretical reference and technical reference for the design and visualization of indoor maps,especially we made a more in-depth theoretical study on the spatial characteristics of spatial map space,and puts forward three kinds of map elements expression method,which has a certain degree of innovation and provides theoretical significance and application value.
