Expectations And Reality:A Research On The Status Anxiety Of Investigative Reporters

Status anxiety is individual's doubts and concerns about his/her own value and importance in the social reality and the effectiveness of the actions taken to fulfill one's self-expectations.And the deepest reason of status anxiety should be the gap between self-expectations and actual possessions.The paper combines depth interviews and related documents,runs through the process of investigative reporters'job chosen,working and the uncertainty over his/her position to examine the situation of their status anxiety comprehensively.The research shows that status anxiety,mainly including anxiety concerns occupation,class and morality,exists commonly through investigative reporters' daily work,as well as the process of interaction between individuals and organizations,or even the society.However,the reasons are complex.Status anxiety should be a result of the combination of various factors,and since the positioning and pursuit varies from person to person,the main cause and degree of status anxiety are also different.Because of the adjustment of self-pursuit and self-positioning,the extent and causes of status anxiety of the same person may even change.But on the whole,the problem is not too serious among the group.This kind of anxiety has internalized relatively into investigative reporters' professional cognition,and most of their professional consciousness is already neutral or tend to be neutral,while most of the reporters have set up a clear self-positioning and capability boundary.Relatively speaking,investigative reporters love their career more than reporters of other types,and they devote more conscientious efforts and adhere more to the moral bottom line.Most of investigative reporters may still have obvious advantage and capital in the re-employment even after a job change,and the majority of them believe the prospect of investigative reporters and investigative reporting will be good.
