The cultivation of reading ability is the core and focus of Chinese teaching in primary and secondary schools.Reviewing many sets of high school Chinese textbooks used in Shanghai since the first phase of the curriculum reform,the H version of the textbook has distinct characteristics in the training of reading ability.Therefore,this paper takes the H version of the textbook as the research object to study the composition of reading ability system of its reading unit,hoping to provide some thinking and implications for the teachers.First of all,the historical status and reading units of the H version is combed.The reading unit takes reading ability training as the main line,focusing on three levels of ability training: understanding reading,appreciative reading and critical reading,which are not completely separate and independent but integrate with each other and forming a spiral up reading training ladder.Secondly,the reading ability of the three levels is reviewed from three aspects: unit objectives,learning materials and learning activities.Statistical analysis of knowledge,strategies and affective requirements in the objectives of each unit is conducted to classify learning materials and activities and analyze their relevance to the unit objectives.It can be concluded that through each unit's leads and learning activities,the textbook can make clear the emphasis of learning material and the unit goals including knowledge,method strategy and sentiment requirements.However,some contents are overlapping,while the expression of sentiment goals is too little.The learning materials of different ability training units have their own characteristics,but many units have a single style.In learning activities,there are more comprehensible reading learning activities,and most of them are comprehensive according to the verbs describing the learning behavior statistical analysis.
