A Practical Study Of Case Work Intervention In Social Support Network For Poor Single Mothers

Since the 1980 s,with the reform and opening up of China and the impact of the market economy,people's concept of family and marriage has undergone profound changes.The divorce rate has been showing a rising trend.The number of single mothers caused by divorce has also increased year by year.As a special group,single mothers lose many social relations and support networks after divorce or widowhood.They are obviously less able to cope with emergencies than normal families.They are often unable to get out of the predicament and are becoming the vulnerable groups in society.Therefore,the group of single mothers needs the widespread attention of the academic community and the support of all levels of social forces and resources.As a helpful profession,social work has the responsibility to focus more attention on women,especially single mothers.Through professional methods and techniques,social workers can help single mothers rebuild their confidence in life,strengthen social support networks and improve their ability to cope with problems,thus improving their living conditions.From the perspective of social support network and ecosystem,this study takes Y case of single mother in Jinjiang District of Chengdu as the research object.Through interviews,participation observation and other methods,the basic situation of the case owner and the status of social support network are analyzed.The problems and causes of social support network are analyzed,so as to formulate a suitable social work service program for the case owner.On this basis,the author uses the practical method of case work to integrate formal and informal resources for single mothers,to meet their physiological,psychological and social needs at various levels,to solve the multiple problems faced by them,such as disease,economy,family relations,interpersonal communication,and social support,so as to rebuild the social support network for single mothers and improve their ability to cope with life difficulties.Finally,this study deeply reflects on the advantages and disadvantages of the case work method applied to the reconstruction of social support network for single mothers,hoping to enrich the research status of single mothers in China.
