The importance of cultivating students' reasoning ability has been emphasized from the 1963 mathematics syllabus of full-time middle school issued by the ministry of education which proposed to cultivate students' "logical reasoning ability" for the first time to the 2011 edition of mathematics curriculum standards for compulsory education which proposed to cultivate students' the eight qualities of cultivating students' reasoning ability.Geometry is a good material to cultivate students' reasoning ability in junior middle school,so it is valuable to study students' reasoning ability.Based on the educational background of X city and the internship background of Chengdu,the author deeply felt the education levels' gap between the two places.Therefore,the author conducted an investigation and research on the geometric reasoning ability of grade 9 students in X city.This research mainly adopts literature research method,investigation method,data analysis method and interview method which mainly solved two problems.The first one is investigating the grade 9 students in 5 middle schools in X city city to obtain the present situation of grade 9 students' geometric reasoning ability.The another one is putting forward the training strategy of "ninth grade students' geometric reasoning ability" according to the problem of "geometric reasoning of grade 9 students" reflecting in the survey.According to this survey,firstly,the average level of geometric reasoning ability of grade 9 students in X city is not high.Secondly,most of the students can reach level 3 and some students can reach level 4,but there are still some students at level 1or even below,so the gap between the students is obvious.Thirdly,there is a big difference in students' geometric reasoning ability between schools.In particular,there is a significant gap between schools with higher enrollment rate and schools with lower enrollment rate,and there is a small gap in students' geometric reasoning ability between schools with middle enrollment rate.Fourthly,students' geometric reasoning ability and students' academic performance has a greater correlation.Generally speaking,Generally speaking,students with strong geometric reasoningability have higher academic performance.Based on the survey and interviews with teachers and students,I analyze the factors affecting the geometric reasoning ability of grade 9 students in 5 aspects.They are “Part of teachers do not attach importance to the educational value of geometric reasoning.”?“focusing on results over process”?“Teachers do not attach importance to geometric language teaching” ? “the lacking of ability to identify basic shapes in complex geometric shapes” and “Teachers are not good at teaching with modern educational techniques.” At the same time,a detailed training strategy is put forward from a small level.They are “using GeoGebra or other modern teaching software technology to assist teaching”?“attaching the importance to the teaching of basic graphics”?“Teaching at different levels allows each student to develop”?“paying equal attention to plausible reasoning and deductive reasoning in the teaching of geometric reasoning” and “developing students' intuitive and descriptive reasoning abilities further”.And based on Bloom's theory of mastery learning and Bruner's Discovery Learning Theory,the teaching design of "hand-in-hand model" is designed according to the proposed training strategy.It is hoped that this study can arouse the attention of front-line teachers to students' geometric reasoning ability,and provide reference for the effective teaching of geometric reasoning.
