Thriving at work refers to the sense of vitality and learning that individuals experience at work.The integrative model of human growth at work believes that situational factors at work can promote personal vitality and learning status by satisfying individual psychological needs(e.g.,relatedness and competence).Based on the integrative model of human growth at work,a total of 300 social workers were involved in this study.The aims of the study was to analysis the current status of the thriving at work of social workers in China,the difference in thriving at work with different groups,the influencing factors and mechanism of thriving at work.The study concluded the following:First,there is a significant difference between social workers in terms of “vitality” and “learning”.That is to say,social workers can continuously learn new knowledge and skills to improve themselves at work,but their vitality at work is low;Second,there is a significant difference in thriving at work of social worker with different genders,ages,education levels,and marital status,while there is no significant difference in thriving at work of social workers with different work years and regions;Third,the balanced reciprocity of work of social workers will affect the thriving at work,and social workers relatedness and competence to the organization will also affect their thriving at work;Fourth,social workers' relatedness and competence play mediating roles in the relationship between balanced reciprocity of work and thriving at work.Based on the results of the above studies,this study provides a countermeasure and suggestions for improving social workers' thriving at work from the level of social work organization and the level of social workers.At the level of social work organization,a balanced and mutually beneficial working relationship and atmosphere should be established,and the differences between different groups of social workers should be valued.At the level of social workers,they should continuously improve their relatedness to their organizations or institutions,enhance their professional competence,and establish a scientific career development plan. |
