As the number of graduate admissions increasing continuously,more and more students start their journey of learning to master degree.In the process of cultivating postgraduates,some problems have become increasingly prominent.There are more and more postgraduates beginning to dislike academics and try to get rid of them.While some postgraduates still maintain a passion for academics.In this study,academic ideals were analyzed based on four elements: academic cognition,academic emotion,academic will,and academic action.Two candidates of master degree,Xia Yuying and Zeng Jian were selected as objects through typical sampling.The interviews,material collection,and sociological autobiography were used to collect the original data.The situation analysis method was used to represent the construction process and the course of mind of the students' academic ideals.Then,the category analysis was applied to identify the influencing factors of the academic ideal construction,so as to construct a model.Finally,based on the research conclusions,reflections on the graduate education and the research process were summarized.This paper includes six parts.The first part is a general introduction about research questions,relative definitions,literature review,theoretical basis,research methods and research significance.The second part,that is Chapter one,mainly depicts the research framework and research procedures followed by the description of sample selection,reliability and validity analysis,and research ethics.In the third part or chapter two,the construction process of academic ideals of two sample students is represented.It was found that the construction process of individual academic ideals has gone through four stages: the germination stage,the development stage,the debugging stage,and the mature stage.And the course of the mind was revealed,in which the sense of academic identity first transformed into a sense of joviality,then the sense of joviality transformed into a sense of gain,and the sense of gain transformed into a sense of responsibility,signifying the completion of the academic ideals construction.The process and findings of data analysis were stated in chapter three,the fourth part.The results showed that there are four internal and external factors that affect the academic ideals construction of the postgraduates: personal characteristics,academic experience,internal learning environment,and external learning environment.The fifth part is the fourth chapter of the paper,in which the mechanism of the factors affecting academic ideals was analyzed.It was found that the construction of academic ideals was influenced by three key elements,that is,cognitive basis,emotional energy,and academic leaders.The sixth part is the summary and discussion.Based on the research findings,the implications for the cultivation of postgraduates were discussed from the macro,meso and micro perspectives,followed by the reflections on the research method and process from three aspects as sample size,analysis process,and research perspective.
