Teacher are the key factors that influence the quality of high school education,and the development of high school education needs high-quality teacher as a strong backing.It is an important subject of educational research that high school teacher should possess the characteristics of competence in teaching.This study investigates the teaching competence of high school teacher.A total of 1996 high school teachers were surveyed in 11 districts and cities in Jiangxi province.Through the analysis,the following conclusions are drawn:First of all,the teaching competence of high school teacher is generally at a good level(M=4.88).The scores of the four first-level indicators ranged from high to low is: teaching ability(M=5.04)> knowledge literacy(M=4.88)> professional character(M=4.81)>personality traits(M=4.80).Secondly,there are significant differences in the level of teaching competence among high school teacher in terms of region,age,teaching age,establishment,academic background,professional title,weekly class hours and recognition.The teaching competence of high school teacher in different regions ranged from high to low is: Fuzhou,Ji'an,Xinyu,Jingdezhen,Yichun,Jiujiang,Ganzhou,Pingxiang,Shangrao,Nanchang and Yingtan.The older the high school teacher,the longer the teaching age,the higher the title,the higher the teaching competence level.The level of teaching competence of high school teacher who have been compiled by the state is higher than that of high school teacher who have not been set up by the state.Undergraduate high school teacher teaching competence level higher than College and Master's high school teacher.The level of teaching competence of high school teacher with the first degree of normal education is better than that of non-normal high school teacher.The recognized high-school teacher's teaching competence level is higher than the unrecognized high school teacher.High school teachers with weekly hours of 11-15 are the best at teaching competence.Then,the level of teaching competence of high school teacher will be influenced by teaching and research organizations,teacher training,literature reading,teaching reference and teaching research.The higher the frequency of high school teacher participating in teaching and research activities;the higher the evaluation of teaching and research activities;the higher the frequency of participation in teacher training;the higher the evaluation of teacher training;the more books,reading more literature,books,newspapers;the higher the frequency of observation teaching;the more times you ask someone;the more published(including published)teaching research results;the higher the level of teaching competence of high school teacher.Finally,in order to improve the teaching competence of high school teacher,the schoolsare advised to carry out various forms of research activities,improving the training of high school teacher,stimulate the learning consciousness of high school teacher,enhancing high School teachers' recognition of treatment,pay attention to the mental health of high school teacher.
