Junior high school students are in the transition period of physical and mental development. On the one hand, they are gradually awakening of self-consciousness.But on the other hand, they lack the ability to solve problems by themselves. They are immature in thinking development, weak in willpower, and easily distracted,So that they often have academic procrastination. On this issue, there were few domestic researches payed attentions to the influence of achievement goal orientation and independent learning ability on academic procrastination. In response to this situation, this study connected the achievement goal orientation, autonomous learning ability and academic procrastination, explored the mediating effects of autonomic learning ability between achievement goal orientation and academic procrastination, and explored the impacts of autonomous learning ability on the academic procrastination,to provide new educational ways to reduce the academic procrastination in junior high school students. This research was divided into two parts.Part one aimed to explore the relationship between “Achievement Goal Orientation”,“Autonomous Learning Ability” and “Academic Procrastination” of junior high school students by questionnaire survey. The subjects were selected from a middle school in Hangzhou, and 224 valid questionnaires were collected.Data analysis results showed that there are significant correlations between these three variables. And the autonomous learning ability can significantly negative predict academic procrastination.Based on the results of part one, part two of this study developed a series of group counseling training interventions.Firstly, selected 24 students who were in the medium level of both autonomous learning ability and academic procrastination by the methods such as questionnaire survey, interviews and natural observation. Then divided them into two groups, arranged 12 students as the experimental group and the other students as the control group. The experimental group had received ten units of“Autonomous Learning Ability” group psychological counseling training.but the control group had not received any intervention. The data analysis results showed that, compared with the control group, the experimental group's autonomous learning abilities had been significantly improved after intervention, and the academic procrastination behaviors of the experimental group had been significantly reduced. Moreover, the tracking measurement results showed that the training effect could be tracked until two weeks after the end of the intervention. In summary, the results of this study showed that:(1)The level of autonomous learning ability of junior high school students is not very high.Academic procrastination is commonly existed in junior high school students. In terms of achievement goal orientation, they tend to master-avoidance goal orientation.(2)Master-approach goals and achievement-approach goals can significantly positive predict autonomous learning ability, and play a negative role in predicting academic procrastination.Achievement-avoidance goals can significantly positive predict academic procrastination, but can't predict autonomous learning ability.Master-avoidance goals can not predict autonomous learning ability and academic procrastination.(3)Autonomous learning ability has a significant negative predictive effect on academic procrastination. Moreover, autonomous learning ability plays a completely mediating role between master-approach goals and academic procrastination, and also plays a partial mediating role between achievement-approach goals and academic procrastination.(4)The intervention program of autonomous learning ability based on group counseling can effectively improve the autonomous learning abilities of junior high school students, and it's helpful to reduce the behavior of academic procrastination.Besides, the effect of intervention training has a good durability. So it's feasible to improve the autonomous learning ability and reduce the academic procrastination behavior through group psychological counseling.
