Senior high school students are experiencing an important period that is moving to socialized development.They are facing various changes and filled with uncertainties.IU is a kind of cognitive bias.It will influence people's cognition,emotion and behavior and furthermore influence their mental health.This research is aiming to investigate the current situation and individual differences of senior high school students.To find out the effect of reducing the level of IU by using an experiment which is based on the ACT and provide useful materials for relative research.According to the ACT therapy,this research designed a group psychology counseling project for the senior high school students of The Experimental Middle School of UESTC in order to decreasing their level of IU.Firstly,using the Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale-12 to test the current IU situation of 326 senior students.Secondly,arranging scores from high to low and selecting the students who ranked before 27% as the “high score group”.Thirdly,following the principle of voluntary,selecting 28 students to join the group(14 students are the experimental group,14 students are the control group).The control group and experimental group are similar to each other in age,gender,only child,parenting pattern and the level of IU.The independent variable of this experiment is intervention treatment.The dependent variable is the level of IU.The controlled variable is the characteristics of the students and the measuring tool.According to the intervention plan,the experimental group was intervened for 8 times(twice a week).There is no intervention for the controlled group.After the experiment,using the Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale-12 to test two groups and test the experimental group again after one month.The results are as follows:1.The average score of IU is a little lower to the average score in theory.The level of anticipatory behavior and the inhibitory behavior are lower than 3;the anticipatory emotion is higher than 3.There are some distinctive differences in grades and academic record but there are no difference in parenting patterns,gender,only child.2.The intervention plan is effective for some factors of IU.It can decrease the level anticipatory behavior and anticipatory emotion.3.The effect of the intervention plan can last a long period.Compared with the results of “after-experiment”,the level of IU of experimental group has increased a little but not distinctive.Compared with “before-experiment”,the level of IU has decreased distinctively.According to the result,this essay provides school,family,and students with some suggestions to keep senior high scool students' mental health.
