In the process of individual development, emotion has always been regarded as the core driving force for the continuous development of individual life, and emotion regulation is the inevitable choice to make individuals in a good emotional state and adapt to the environment.Early adolescence is an important stage of individual emotional development, which is transformed from “youth without sorrow taste” to“ knowing sorrow taste”.Individuals in early adolescence face multiple shifts in physical, psychological, and social demands, with increased and more intense emotional experiences and a sharp rise in the prevalence of mood and behavior disorders. The relationship between individuals and their parents in early adolescence is also in a sensitive period.Parents' parenting behavior and family emotional environment are important factors influencing individuals' emotional regulation ability. It has become a new research direction to study the influence of parental emotion on the psychological and social adaptation of children and adolescents from the perspective of parental emotion socialization.Previous studies on individual emotional regulation from the perspective of parental emotion socialization mainly focused on preschool and primary school children, but paid less attention to early adolescent individuals who were in the“emotion storm period”.This study explores the characteristics and formation path of emotion regulation in early adolescence, based on the emotion socialization model, tripartite model of the impact of the family on children's emotion regulation and adjustment, the theory of emotional security.Meanwhile, using quantitative and qualitative research methods,675 students in grade two and junior grade one were surveyed by questionnaire and 20 students were interviewed by semi-structed interview,to explore the formation path of parental control, parental conflict and parental emotion expressiveness on the emotion regulation of early adolescence. The conclusion is as follows:(1)The results of difference test showed that there were significant differences in grade, residence, family structure and parents' highest education levels in the positive emotion regulation strategies of early adolescents, and significant differences in the negative emotion regulation strategies in grades;there were significant differences in positive emotion expressiveness between parents in family structure and parents' highest education, while there were significant differences in negative emotion expressiveness between parents in gender, residence, family structure and parents' highest education;there were significant differences in parental psychological control in gender and grade, and significant differences in parental behavioral control in grade, residence, family structure and parents' highest education level;there were significant differences in perceived parental conflict in place of residence, family structure and parents' highest educational attainment.(2)The correlation results showed that the emotional regulation strategy in early adolescence was closely related to parental control, parental emotion expressivenessand perceived parental conflict.Among them, positive emotional regulation strategy has a high correlation with positive emotion expressiveness of parents(r=0.261,p< 0.001),while negative emotion regulation strategy has a high correlation with negative emotional expression of parents(r = 0.341,p < 0.001).The correlation between positive emotion regulation strategy and parental behavioral control was higher(r = 0.230,p < 0.001),while the correlation between negative emotion regulation strategy and parental psychological control was higher(r=0.226,p < 0.001).Perceived parental conflict had the highest correlation with parental negative emotion expressiveness(r = 0.496,p < 0.001).(3)The results of overall regression analysis showed that, parental positive and negative emotion expressiveness and parental psychological and behavioral control were important predictors of positive and negative emotion regulation strategies in early adolescents, after controlling for demographic variables.Among them, parental positive emotion expressiveness(? = 0.402,p < 0.001),psychological control(? =–0.022,p < 0.05)and behavioral control(? = 0.213,p < 0.01)had significant predictive effects on positive emotion regulation.Positive parental emotion expressiveness(? = 0.309,p < 0.001),negative emotion expressiveness(? = 0.474,p < 0.001),psychological control(? = 0.198,p < 0.05)and behavioral control(? =0.174,p < 0.05)significantly predicted negative emotional regulation in early adolescents.(4)The results of the overall mediating effect analysis showed that parental emotion expressiveness mediated between parental psychological control and adolescent positive emotion regulation, and between parental behavioral control and positive emotion regulation.Parental emotion expressiveness mediated between parental psychological control and adolescent negative emotion regulation, and between parental behavioral control and negative emotion regulation.(5)The regression analysis and mediating effect analysis of special family structure(single parent family, reorganized family and intergenerational family)showed that parental positive and negative emotional expression mediated between psychological control and negative emotion regulation of adolescents, and also mediated between perceived parental conflict and negative emotion regulation.Based on the above research results, this paper puts forward targeted educational suggestions for improving the emotional regulation ability of early adolescents. In a family environment, parents should optimize parenting methods and create positive family emotional atmosphere;in a school environment, teachers should promote the improvement of adolescents 'emotional cognition and help them adjust their emotions autonomously.
