National defense must take priority in a powerful country.National defense education,as the ideological cornerstone of national defense,plays a vital role in the survival of the country and the prosperity of the nation.Its importance is self-evident.National defense education is not only a strong foundation for building and consolidating national defense,but also an important way to enhance national cohesion and improve the individual quality of the whole population.School education is the initial stage of national defense education.As the hope and future of the nation,the youth are the primary population of national defense education.By reviewing the relevant literature on national defense education in schools at home and abroad,it can be found that most researchers in this field mainly focus their attention on national defense education in universities.And there are few research efforts focusing on national defense education in junior middle schools.The existing research on national defense education in junior high schools primarily aimed at improving the overall educational environment for national defense education at school,while subject teaching in classroom is neglected,although it actually is the most fundamental,important,and critical part of national defense education.Therefore,this study shifts itsresearch to classroom teaching,aiming to find out how to implement national defense education in subject teaching in junior middle school,and attempt to provide solution to current problems and difficulties in junior high school morality and rule of rule of law teaching.This paper is divided into four parts :The first part aims to discuss the theoretical basis of implementing national defense education in junior high school morality and rule of law teaching.The core concepts aredifined and reinterpreted.The relevant theories are explored.And the value orientation of implementing national defense education in morality and rule of law teaching in junior high school is discussed.The second part,based on detailed survey and investigation,reveals the problems exisiting in national defense education implementation in morality and rule of law teaching in junior high schools.And the causes of these problems are also analyzed.In line with the concept and content of national defense education,a questionnaire for junior high school students and teachers is developed to collect their feedback on educators,students,teaching content,teaching methods,and teaching environment of national defense education in morality and rule of law teaching.432 junior high school students and junior high school morality and rule of law teachers in 3 junior high schools in Guangdong,Yunnan,and Jiangxi provinces participate in the questionnaire survey.The data analysis uncovers the key issues and major causes of implementing national defense education in morality and rule of law teaching in junior high schools in China.The third part explores the supporting conditions for effective implementation of national defense education in junior middle school morality and rule of law teaching,in responding to problems and causes of the implementation of national defense education in junior middle school morality and rule of law teaching.The supporting conditions from three fields,including society,schools and teachers,are proposed.The fourth part focuses the reality and challenges in implementing national defense education in junior high school morality and rule of law teaching,put forward several practical countermeasures from four perspectives,including objectives clarification,content optimization,methods improvement,and evaluation refinement,with the consideration of periodical characteristics of junior students' cognition development in national defense education. |
