In order to implement the fundamental task of "cultivating people by virtue" and comprehensively deepen the reform of the new curriculum,the Ministry of Education proposed to "co-ordinate all disciplines,carry out interdisciplinary teaching","co-ordinate schools,families,society and other positions,design the curricular and extra-curricular activities scientifically,to create a good environment for cultivating talents ",and create conditions for students' all-round and individualized development STEAM education concept from the United States advocates breaking the discipline boundaries and applying the discipline literacy to the solution of practical problems,so as to cultivate comprehensive talents with innovative thinking ability.This concept is in line with Chinese current educational needs,so teachers should change the concept,enrich the strategy,properly use STEAM educational concepts to carry out the second classroom activities in teaching,so that students can learn from doing middle school,from inside and outside the activities of secondary schools,besides,they can solve practical problems in life by using the relevant knowledge of contacting the various disciplines during the activities.so as to achieve the goal of cultivating students' core quality.Based on the requirements and current situation of biology teaching in high school,this paper discussed and elaborated the feasibility and implementation strategy of carrying out the second classroom based on STEAM educational concept.First of all,through the literature research method of domestic and foreign related research combed and summarized,this paper defined the concept and characteristics of STEAM education and the second classroom,and theoretically explored the feasibility and effectiveness of the second classroom based on STEAM educational concept.Subsequently,this paper filtered out the contents of biology textbook for senior high school through the teaching material analysis method,which was suitable for development of the second classroom activities with the STEAM conception.Then,through the questionnaire survey of the needs of W middle school students,it was found that 63.86% of the students participated in the survey did not understand the second classroom,but 81.68% of them were interested in carrying out the second classroom activities,and expressed the hope that more field visits,planting,breeding,model making,investigation,subject inquiry,performance and other practical,experiential activities,to expand biological knowledge,improve skills,increase social life experience and so on.Finally,according to the investigation and analysis results,by combining with the school's learning environment,referring to the most common using of PBL teaching model in STEAM education and the principle of the second classroom,this paper constructed the six-part activity model of "determine the project,pre-preparation,formulation of plans,implementation of the project,exchange evaluation,reflection and summary",designed several activity cases like "Homemade Teaching Tool Competition" and "Biological Small Theatre" and "Into Traditional Fermentation Project" and "Clear Creek Water Purification",then practiced in Sichuan Province,W middle school,reflected and summarized the effect of activities in practice.According to the practical research findings,the development of high school biological second classroom based on STEAM concept has more positive significance in teaching,teachers' professional development and comprehensive training of students,but there are also many problems and challenges in ordinary urban high schools.For example,urban teachers' understanding of STEAM educational concept is not deep,students' interdisciplinary integration knowledge ability is insufficient,the second classroom activities are not valued or qualified,the activity evaluation system is not perfect and so on.In order to solve the above problems,promote the smooth implementation of the second classroom activities under STEAM educational concept,this study puts forward the strategy of the second classroom activity under the STEAM concept from the school and teacher level: the school should increase the research and development of the relevant school-based curriculum,promote the formation of the "school-family-social teaching community",and have a professional and systematic training about STEAM education to teachers.As well,teachers should be encouraged to apply their STEAM concepts to teaching.What's more,teachers should establish lifelong learning concepts,change traditional teaching methods,actively design and carry out related second classroom activities,strengthen summary reflection in the practice of activities. |
