Steam education is the acronym of science,technology,engineering,mathematics and art.Its predecessor is stem,adding the "a" art element.Steam education concept originated in the United States and was later popularized and practiced by various countries.It emphasizes interdisciplinary learning and promotes the cultivation of students' innovative ability by infiltrating the learning of various disciplines,so as to promote the all-round development of students.With the development of steam education,scholars at home and abroad have carried out analysis and Research on it from the theoretical and practical levels,but there is less research on the practical level of steam education in China.At the same time,there are also some problems in the biology teaching of senior high school in China,such as single teaching methods and low students' interest.In view of the above problems,this paper studies the application of steam concept in high school biology teaching,in order to provide reference for the effective development of high school biology teaching.Firstly,by combing the relevant literature,this paper summarizes the meaning and relevant theoretical basis of steam education,and expounds the research status of steam education in detail;Then,by means of questionnaire and interview,understand the current biology learning status of students in Kunming X Middle School and the application of steam education concept in biology teaching.The survey results show that most students are aware of the importance of subject integration and believe that the learning method of "learning by doing" can better improve their interest in learning.However,in the actual biology teaching in senior high school,teachers' application of steam teaching mode is not very extensive,and the application scope still needs to be strengthened;Based on the investigation of the current teaching situation and the understanding of the connotation of steam education,this study designs a high school biology teaching model under the concept of steam education,selects two parallel classes for teaching experiments,and finally evaluates the practical effect.The results show that the integration of steam education concept into high school biology teaching can promote the effective improvement of students' academic performance,stimulate students' interest in learning biology,and develop students' innovative thinking,practical ability and sense of unity and cooperation.Therefore,this teaching concept has certain value and practical significance in practical teaching.Finally,in view of the difficulties encountered in the implementation of steam education in China,this study puts forward improvement strategies from the aspects of training teachers,changing educational ideas,optimizing resource allocation and formulating evaluation standards,and puts forward prospects according to the shortcomings of this study.
