Composition plays a pivotal role in the Chinese teaching of junior high school.Students' competence of composition writing is a comprehensive reflection of their Chinese language ability and a direct reflection of their Chinese literacy.In spite of the constantly deepened Chinese curriculum reform and the continuously mature research achievements of composition teaching,students have not achieved major breakthroughs in their composition writing skills.In view of this,the author has carried out an investigation at Yan'an City Experimental High School where the author works as an intern,so as to deeply study the current situation of composition writing teaching in the experimental high school,discuss the problems in composition writing teaching and their causes and then put forward effective solving strategies.The introduction of this paper includes the origin,significance,current situation,content and methods of the study,through which the basic issues such as why to study,what to study and how to carry have been clarified.In Section One,the thesis mainly expounds the meaning,objective and theoretical basis of Chinese composition writing teaching in junior high school.Based on the situation of Yan'an City Experimental High School,Section Two investigates the current situation and problems of Chinese composition writing teaching in junior high schools through questionnaire surveys and interviews.The problems are mainly reflected in the following aspects: teachers' teaching concepts are backward and their competence of composition writing teaching is insufficient;their teaching method is single and their way of writing training is backward;students' improvement in composition writing is too slow;there is lack of correct evaluation standard and the role of evaluation has not been given into full play;students' attitude toward writing is negative,and the writing process is full of difficulties.Section Three makes a cause analysis according to the problems existing in the composition writing teaching in junior high school.The main causes include the following: the exam-oriented teaching concept is deeply rooted;teachers pay little attention to the teaching of composition writing;the teaching objective of composition writing is not clear;the teaching is guided by the examination scoring standards;students' status as the subject of learning has been seriously affected.Section Four puts forward the improvement strategies for Chinese composition writing teaching in junior high school.In order to change the current situation of composition writing teaching,it is necessary to establish correct teaching concepts and carry out teaching guided by the curriculum standard;to improve writing teaching methods and innovate writing training methods;to clarify the teaching objectives of composition writing and set up a writing teaching system;to pay attention to the role of composition evaluation and construct a composition writing evaluation system;to respect students' status of subject and make efforts to cultivate students' writing ability.The conclusion summarizes the contents of the thesis and emphasize that the teaching of composition writing in junior high school should be improved from the following aspects including teaching concepts,methods,objectives,evaluation,students,so that the current situation of writing teaching is improved,and the students' competence of composition writing can be enhanced finally.
