It is no doubt that the 21st century is an information era of rapid advancement.Informatization impacts human society on various aspects,such as life,production,education,etc.As a crucial approach and carrier to inherit human civilization and acquire new knowledge,education undertakes significant functions.Since the New College Entrance Examination Reform in 2017,the Ministry of Education has raised requirements on primary and middle school students' reading quantities and capacities.Reading has been put on an increasingly prominent place across different stages of education.Given that high school is an essential stage for teenagers to form their views of life and value as well as the last stage before college,it is undoubtedly that the cultivation of high school students' interest in reading is of great value and importance in reality.The thesis carried out in-depth investigation into the status quo of high school student's reading and analyzed the factors affecting their interest in reading.Firstly,the overwhelmed school burden restricts students'reading under the background of exam-oriented education system.Secondly,students are confronted with diversified choices and temptations in information era,and a large amount of their time and energy are tyrannized by television,Internet,game,etc.which contributes to an essential factor weakening students' interest in reading.What's more,without necessary guidance and diversified books that are available,students' interest in reading cannot be further developed even though they bear such interest.The thesis mainly embraces four sections.The first section will argue the significance of cultivation of high school students' interest in reading in information era.Both the New College Entrance Examination Reform and Chinese Curriculum Standard for Ordinary High School put high demands on high school students' reading capabilities.,which is not only reflected by the requirements on the increase of students'reading quantities and numbers of books read,but also is embodied by the increase of readings on Chinese examination paper in College Entrance Examination by years.Therefore,the cultivation of high school students' interest in reading is undoubtedly significant in improving their reading capacities and cultural taste.The second section will define reading and interest in reading as well as elaborate the features of reading in information era.Reading in information era shows features of diversity in reading modes,co-existence of fragmented reading and shallow reading,diversification in reading contents,varied qualities of reading,the weakening position of reading,etc.The third section is the investigation report and analysis of the status quo of high school students' reading in information era.In this section,the author has conducted research investigation amongst students in Kai Yuan No.1 Middle School of Honghe Autonomous Prefecture,Yunan Province,where the author works as a teacher.In accordance with investigation report,the section analyzes and concludes the features of high school students' reading in information era and analyzes the factors affecting their interest in reading with the illustration of teaching practices.The fourth section will propose suggestions to cultivate high school students'interest in reading in information era on the basis of above research and analysis.The suggestions are proposed at four levels:schools and teachers,family,society and students.The conclusion will make a summary of research in this thesis.
