There're many things in common in such as the fields of curriculum reform in basic education and implementation of geography curriculum in junior middle schools between Hong Kong and the mainland.However,geography education in Hong Kong is distinctive and it has a higher level.In addition,it has the advantage of being an international metropolis,which makes it draw on the strengths of others in the process of geography curriculum design and implementation,integrating the advanced ideas and practical experience of Chinese and foreign education,excellent resources and latest research results as well as reflecting the broad international vision.Geography teaching material is the carrier of realizing the goal of geography education and it's also an important field of geography education reform.Carrying out a comparative study of junior high school geography teaching materials between mainland China and Hong Kong,analyzing the characteristics of their own teaching materials and drawing on the advantages of Hong Kong teaching materials are all of great significance for promoting the reform and development of geography teaching in middle schools in mainland China.This paper takes geography book published by Hunan Education Press(mainly Grade 8)and Exploring Geography book in HK as the research objects.Firstly,the author compares the corresponding compilation and using system of the two sets of textbooks,including the four aspects which are the objective of geography curriculum,the structure of curriculum,the main basis for compiling the textbooks and the procedure of selecting the textbooks.Grasp the overall picture and structure of the textbook from the system and from the whole.And understand the basic relationship between the main contents of the textbook.And so it leads to a further analysis of the two sets of teaching material from the following three aspects:the content,the frame and the system and from the perspectives of functional tendency and other aspects they reflect.Finally,it makes evaluation on the advantages and disadvantages of the textbook,giving advice on how to improve the compilation and how to implement the teaching.
