Research On The Path And Mechanism Of American Public Research Universities Participating In Regional Development

In the context of globalization,research universities participate in regional development with convergence and diversity.As the leading educational power in the world,American public research universities have a good tradition of participating in regional development and have already achieved great success.The participation of American research universities in regional development has three historical key points,which are respectively marked by the promulgation of the Morrill Land-Grant Act,the emergence of the Wisconsin Idea and the enactment of the Bayh-Dole Act.Moreover,confronting from market dilemma,policy tilt,cultural leadership and technological revolution after entering the 21st century,American public research universities construct three mechanisms including driving mechanism,organizational mechanism and operational mechanism to facilitate participation in regional development with three paths:cultivation of innovative and entrepreneurial talent,knowledge spillovers and cultural radiation.American public research universities have already achieved great success,such as improving regional employment and economic growth,enhancing regional learning and participation levels,and promoting knowledge transfer and social development.However,American Public research universities also face challenges:the contradiction between the "intemationalization" and "localization" strategies and the challenge of universities management and operation.Over time,American public research universities continue to explore and improve the mechanism and path of participation in regional development,and strive to develop into the backbone of the economic,political and cultural innovations of the region and even the country,and to study the participation of American public research universities.The mechanism and path of development have certain reference value for the theoretical construction and policy practice of higher education in China.
