Counselors are the backbone of ideological and political education for college students.Their ability and quality play an important role in moral cultivation.In the highly integrated environment of information and media,counselors must build a network of ideological and political education positions,strengthen student network literacy education,innovate work paths,and improve network guidance capabilities.Therefore,College counselors are required to improve their media literacy in time.Based on the theory of college students' ideological and political education,Media Dependency Theory,Uses and Gratifications,and the counselors of the three normal universities in Yunnan Province as the investigation object to carry out the media literacy research of college counselors.First of all,through the literature analysis method to explore the media literacy of college counselors.Secondly,through the study of relevant literature and the characteristics of the counselor's work,the college counselor's media literacy questionnaire and interview outline are compiled.Finally,SPSS22 software was used to combine the theoretical basis and interview content to descriptive statistics,mean comparison,chi-square test,one-way ANOVA and LSD post-multiple comparison test.After examination and analysis,this study comes to the following conclusions: Firstly,the overall media literacy of counselors in local normal universities in yunnan province is at a medium level.Among them,their acquisition ability is the highest,evaluation ability is the second highest,and communication ability and creation ability are the lowest.Secondly,the media literacy of counselors in local normal universities in yunnan province is affected by factors such as age,education background,computer level,working years,acquisition awareness,evaluation awareness,identification degree of media literacy,the nature of job,and the construction of counselor team.Thirdly,the media literacy of counselors in local normal universities in yunnan province has some problems,such as uneven media literacy,weak acquisition awareness,lack of innovation ability and weak communication ability.Based on the above conclusions,the author puts forward suggestions to improve the media literacy of counselors in local normal universities in yunnan province from the perspectives of counselors and colleges.For counselors,media literacy can be improved from seven aspects,namely,enhancing the understanding of media resources,enhancing the media awareness,strengthening the correct information value and attitude,enhancing the media application ability,enhancing the ability to serve students,cultivating the media literacy of college students,and enhancing the humanistic literacy.For colleges and universities,they can help counselors improve their media literacy from the following four aspects: strict counselor access mechanism,improvement of counselor treatment,establishment of counselor development mechanism,and establishment of counselor media literacy research and evaluation system.
