An Empirical Study On The Impact Of New Media On Political Socialization Of College Students

Political socialization is a process in which citizens actively or passively accept the political culture and political thinking mode dominated by political system in social life.Political socialization can help citizens to establish political concepts and attitudes consistent with social orientation,and ultimately form a complete social and political personality.As a social group with high literacy,it is of great significance for college students to pay attention to their degree of political socialization.Nowadays,the way college students get information has changed greatly.The emergence and popularization of new media have a direct impact on the way college students learn and understand the social and political system.At this time,the diversity and complexity of new media also have a greater impact on the political socialization of college students.Therefore,this paper will study the influence of new media on the political socialization of college students,and use the sociological function theory as the basis to study the impact of new media on the political socialization of college students.In this study,we selected Northeast Normal University,Jilin University,Jilin Agricultural University and Changchun University of Science and Technology as the subjects of investigation,make questionnaires and interview outlines,randomly investigate and interview 300 college students from four universities.This paper mainly investigates in the new media environment,college students’ attention and attitude to political events and political system,learning awareness and participation awareness.Through investigating and studying some college students in Jilin Province,it is concluded that the political socialization of college Students under the new media environment has the following characteristics: political sensitivity and plasticity are greatly enhanced;political perspectives are more complex and diverse;and political participation is more interactive.Furthermore,it is concluded that the new media has a positive influence on the political socialization of college students,such as expanding the political perspective,expanding the expression path,enhancing the political attention and promoting the formation of political consciousness.Of course,there are also some negative effects,such as complicated political tendency,irrational participation,declining enthusiasm for political learning,and weakening sense of political responsibility.Finally,in view of the negative impact,the paper puts forward the following measures: purifying the new media environment,guiding the rational expression of demands,creating a good political learning atmosphere and improving the sense of political responsibility.
