STEAM Education is the abbreviation of the five initials of Science,Technology,Engineering,Mathematics,and Arts.Its predecessor is STEM,which adds "A" Art elements.STEAM education has arisen in the United States,and it has been paid more and more attention by many countries and has begun to practice.In recent years,many scholars in China have begun to participate in research.STEAM Education emphasizes the formation of integrated teaching through the infiltration of various subject content,promotes the improvement of students’ learning efficiency,enables students to cultivate their innovative thinking ability in the process of acquiring knowledge,and also promotes the all-round development of students.The STEAM education concept is in line with the needs of contemporary teaching and is an effective way to cultivate technical talents and innovative talents.It is worthy of extensive research by educators.Firstly,this paper analyzes the connotation,characteristics and theories of STEAM education through literature analysis,and determines the research theme based on the research background of STEAM education in line with the new curriculum reform concept,the characteristics of suitable chemistry disciplines and the STEAM education concept and the core literacy development requirements.The research status at home and abroad has been elaborated.Based on constructivist theory,humanistic teaching theory,multiple intelligence theory,etc.,using the questionnaire and interview method to select the author’s internship school to understand the current students’ chemistry learning situation and the application of STEAM education in chemistry teaching;Using text analysis method to study the compulsory part of high school chemistry,combine the teaching principles of STEAM education concept,integrate STEAM education concept into classroom teaching practice,and analyze the various elements of STEAM education involved in the case.Based on the STEAM education concept,students’ innovative thinking ability can be improved to a certain extent.Therefore,the author chooses to use the student academic achievement and innovative thinking ability questionnaire to compare and analyze the practice effect.The results show that students’ innovative thinking ability is related to the classroom teaching mode,and the chemistry class that students expect is in line with the characteristics of STEAM education concept;Teachers also agree that the intersection and integration of chemistry subjects with other subjects is more conducive to student learning.Finally,the author proposes to improve the STEAM education concept from the four aspects of curriculum resources,teaching equipment,teacher strength and learning evaluation,and hopes that this research can be implemented locally.The STEAM education provides a reference.
