As an important branch of higher education system,higher vocational education undertakes the task of training highly skilled and highly applied talents.After decades of development,the focus of Shanghai's higher vocational education has been turned to connotation construction.In the development of colleges and universities,some teachers are gradually confronted with career development difficulties and teaching boredom.It is difficult for them to fully integrate their own development into the school construction,so much so that they can hardly display effectively their own enthusiasm,initiative and creativity in their work.This partly results from the insufficiency of the incentive mechanism for the teachers.Therefore,to arouse the enthusiasm of the teachers and further promote the development of Higher Vocational Education in Shanghai,it is of great significance to make a study of the incentive mechanism for the teachers in Higher Vocational Colleges in Shanghai.Based on the theories such as hierarchy of needs theory,two-factor theory,expectancy theory,and equity theory,this thesis takes the teacher incentive situation in Shanghai' Vocational Colleges as the research sample through questionnaire survey.It elaborates on insufficiency of the incentive mechanism for the teachers in Higher Vocational Colleges in Shanghai,which is composed of three elements,i.e.internal motivation,external pressure and target attraction.It also dwells on the methods for the improvement of such a mechanism.The study finds,first,the main factors for insufficient internal motivation are the imperfect salary system,and lack of flexibility in Title evaluation;second,the insufficient external pressure is mainly due to inadequate operation supervision,unscientific evaluation system and lack of orderly competition in schools;and third,the insufficient target attraction is mainly due to the lack of academic freedom and career development.Simultaneously,this paper puts forward some measures to safeguard the incentive mechanism for the teachers in Higher Vocational Colleges in Shanghai,from the aspects of fund,system and culture.Finally,in the light of internal motivation,external pressure and goal induction,this paper puts forward some countermeasures to improve the incentive mechanism for the teachers in Higher Vocational Colleges in Shanghai.Those countermeasures include formulating corresponding improvement measures according to the documents issaued by the Shanghai Education Committee;improving the salary distribution system;optimizing job title evaluation;perfecting the evaluation system of the mechanism;perfecting the assessment system;and creating a healthy campus competition atmosphere,to finally attain academic freedom and the sustainable development of teacher career.This study will help to enhance the scientific rationality and standardization of the incentive mechanism for the teachers in Higher Vocational Colleges in Shanghai,and promote the healthy,vigorous and orderly development of Shanghai Higher Vocational Colleges.
