Metrological Research On The Competitiveness Of Scientific Research In Universities In Henan Province

On September 21,2017,the list of universities and disciplines for the building of first-class universities and first-class disciplines(“Double First-Class”for short)in the world was released.Two universities in Henan Province,Zhengzhou University and Henan University,were successfully put on the list,making a historic breakthrough.At the same time,on the provincial NPC&CPPCC of Henan Province held in early 2018,the provincial Party committee and provincial government also clearly proposed that we should substantially enhance the scientific and technological strength and innovation capacity to create a high-tech innovation height in central and western China.They also put forward the idea of further optimizing the regional structure of higher education through“one body with two wings and full coverage of multiple points”.In the context of the strategic building of national“Double First-Class”initiative and the general background of“rise of the central China”,based on Web of Science and InCites ~TMM data platform,this thesis adopts such methods as literature research method,bibliometric method,comparative analysis method,and information visualization to do a quantitative analysis of the scientific research competitiveness of universities in Henan Province.The thesis also examines the domestic and international status of scientific and technological research of universities in Henan Province,and identifies the advantages and gaps of universities in Henan Province to provide valuable scientific references to future strategic planning by science and technology administration departments.This paper firstly selects the data on the papers covered by WoS of universities in Henan Province in the past nine years from 2009 to 2017,and comprehensively masters the scientific research output,academic influence,funding from the National Natural Science Fund,ESI disciplines and preponderant disciplines,and international cooperation on scientific research of universities in Henan Province.Then,through the visualized analysis of the data in the past five years from 2013 to 2017,the thesis draws a knowledge graph on the cooperative network of prolific authors in Henan Province to gain a more systematic understanding on prolific authors and research frontiers of Henan Province.Major conclusions are:The number of papers in Henan Province in the past nine years has shown a general trend of gradual increase year by year and a large number of outstanding research results have emerged.The three universities,Zhengzhou University,Henan University and Henan Normal University have outstanding performance in both scientific research productivity and influence are well-deserved examples for universities in Henan Province.Through the research on the funding from National Natural Science Foundation of China,it is found that National Natural Science Foundation of China has effectively increased the scientific research output of universities in Henan Province and enhanced their academic influence.Through the analysis of the distribution of preponderant disciplines in universities in Henan Province,it is found that the academic papers of universities in Henan Province cover a total of 22 ESI subject categories,which is extensive.Among them,the seven research fields of chemistry,clinical medicine,material science,physics,mathematics,engineering,biology&biochemistry play a decisive role in the overall discipline layout of universities in Henan Province.In addition,the number of papers published through international cooperation by universities in Henan Province has also shown a trend of gradual increase year by year.When conditions permit,universities in Henan Province are more willing to choose to cooperate with disciplines or scientific research institutions with stronger disciplines or comprehensive strength.From the knowledge graph on the cooperative network of prolific authors in Henan Province,it is found that prolific authors in Henan Province are mainly Liu Hongmei,Wang Jianji,Liu Baozhong,Cao Jianliang,and Zhang Zhijun,etc.The major frontier research is related to the following fields:crystal structure,recombinant plasmid,clone expression,tumor gene immunotherapy,ultra-fine nickel fiber,composite materials,nickel nanomaterial,nanoparticle,nano-silica,titanium dioxide nanotube,ionic solvation,Raman spectra,ionic association,sol-gel method,and non-ferrous metal functional materials,etc.
