Protecting children in distress is to provide targeted services according to their needs. In recent years, the Party and the government attach great importance to the important events of livelihood.Children in distress are the most vulnerable objects among children and the focus of attention of the whole society.According to the statistics of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, due to factors such as geographical, historical, cultural and economic and social development lagging behind, there are478,000 children in distress in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, accounting for2.1% of the total population of the region. The task of ensuring services for children in distress is arduous and of great significance. From the past service work, the service work for children in distress in our country is single in form, low in professionalism and lack of professionals. The government attaches great importance to the service of children in distress. In order to better serve children in distress,a series of policies have been formulated to solve the problems arising in the service.Specifically,by purchasing professional social work services, social workers use professional service skills and methods to serve children in distress, and achieved considerable results. In this study,103 4-18 year-old children in X village of Yining city were taken as the research objects.By using the methods of literature research, participatory observation and semi-structured interview, the author analyzed the basic situation of the children in X village, the needs of the children in difficulty and the services they receive, and the matching degree between the needs of the children in difficulty and the services they receive at present. It is found that the current services can not fully meet the needs of children in distress, and need to provide services from the perspective of social work. This study takes a child facing multiple difficulties as a typical case to conduct case service research.Guided by social ecosystem theory, dominance perspective theory and Maslow's demand theory, the study aims to help the case owners to recognize themselves by establishing service relationship, forecasting the problem of the case owner and needs assessment, formulating workplans, implementing intervention of the service plan, and evaluating, closing and tracking plans. We should adjust our mindset in time and face difficulties actively, deal with problems at all levels of our system, and establish a healthy and good growth environment for the case owners. The evaluation shows that all the system problems of the case owners have been improved, and the case intervention has achieved some results.Nevertheless, there are still some technical and objective problems in the process of social workers' service, namely, the professional service ability of social workers needs to be improved;the service time is short, and there is a lack of in-depth involvement of the case owners;the lack of popularization of social work. Some suggestions for improvement are put forward: to improve the practical ability of social workers;to adjust the intervention methods to make up for the lack of time;to make full use of resources and tap volunteers;to increase publicity efforts to enhance the recognition of social work.
