Security and our lives are linked.As an important way to improve the level of safety,it is of great significance to position safety education at such a special group of primary school students.However,safety accidents still happen a lot in primary schools at present and security risks exist for long,which make the current situation of safety education unsatisfactory.By using the methods of literature and questionnaire,this study investigates and analyses the current situation of safety education in target schools from five dimensions:safety education awareness,safety education content,safety education management,safety education approach and safety education effect.The results of this study show that the overall performance of safety education in rural primary schools in Chengbu Miao Autonomous County of Hunan Province is not optimistic.At present,the problems in school safety education mainly come from five aspects:firstly,the awareness of the importance of safety education is neglected;secondly,the scarcity of safety education resources makes it difficult to meet the needs of improving students' comprehensive safety ability;thirdly,not only is the content of safety education narrow but also the way is single.In addition,there are few specialized courses and fixed time,which makes it difficult to meet the needs of students.Fourthly,safety education management is not in place,and there are no professional safety management agencies and personnel;fifthly,the effect of safety education is not significant and it is difficult to achieve the desired results.Through analysis and summary,it is concluded that there are three reasons in all accounting for the above problems:firstly,under the influence of examination-oriented education tradition,safety education is marginalized;secondly,the conditions of running schools in rural areas are limited and investment is seriously insufficient;thirdly,the management of safety education is deficient and imperfect.After thoroughly analyzing and sorting out the problems and causes,this study puts forward some suggestions for improving the actual situation of primary schools in rural areas of Chengbu Autonomous County,Hunan Province.First of all,we should improve the awareness and enthusiasm of primary school teachers for safety education in rural areas.On the one hand,considering the particularity of rural students,we should pay attention to group differences and teach students in accordance with their aptitude;on the other hand,we should give consideration to both subject teaching and safety education,with one post and two responsibilities.Secondly,schools should attach great importance to correcting cognitive deviation and creating conditions and take active measures to implement safety education.They can start from three aspects including building a safety culture and creating a good safety education environment,optimizing safety education management and improving management efficiency,and strengthening safety education teacher training.Finally,administrative departments should play the role in supporting schools to carry out safety education by increasing financial support and enriching safety education resources,standardizing the content of safety education and broadening the way of safety education as well as building a multi-subject linkage of"society,school and family" student safety education network.
