With the acceleration of China's economic development, the enhancement of technological innovation capabilities, the frequent flow of labor across regions and the rise of the tertiary industry,in the labor market, only relying on cognitive ability is not enough to enable workers to obtain the success, the important of workers' social skill increasingly prominent.Regrettably, domestic and foreign economists have focused on wages and employment effects on cognitive ability, but the discussion of non-cognitive skills, especially social skills,is not deep enough.Especially in China, there are few relevant empirical studies on the topic of “social skills” in the academic world. This paper will be based on the Chinese labor market, absorbed workers' social skill as the research center, aiming to answer the following three questions: First, how does the workers' social skills affect their performance in the labor market, and how its effect? Second,is there any heterogeneity in the impact of social skills on labor force performance? Third, how will the development of artificial intelligence affect the performance of social skills in the labor market? This paper will through the following four aspects,to answer the above three questions:Firstly, based on the relevant current knowledge and the literature, from theoretical level, this paper discussed and analyzed the mechanism of the influence of workers' social skills on the labor market performance.Secondly, combining with China's development background,we use the 2010 and 2014 China Family Panel Studies data(CFPS)and empirical analysis, tested how workers' social skills influence their performance in the labor market. And we used Instrumental variables to solve the possible endogenous problems which may exist during the identification process. The benchmark results show that the higher the social skills of workers, the higher the probability that they will participate in the labor market, and the relatively higher income level they will have; The heterogeneity analysis shows,in different occupations and industries, social skills have different eddects on the labor market performance. The higher social skill-intensive and the lower motor skill-intensive the occupation have, the bigger wage premium of social skills the labor gains; In the third industry, the wage premium of social skills is more.We also found that workers with higher social skills tend to choose social skills and cognitive skills-intensive occupations.Thirdly, using the 2014 China Family Panel Studies data for in-depth analysis,we find technological advancement is one of the reasons to explanation why social skills are increasingly important to the performance of the labor market.By using the China Statistical Yearbook's data and Chen Yongwei(2018)'s research data,we describe the level of artificial intelligence development in various regions and occupations. It is found that in areas where artificial intelligence development is faster, workers' social skills are employed by workers and The positive impact of wages is more pronounced;when workers are engaged in occupations that are not easily replaced by artificial intelligence, the social skills of workers have a higher wage premium.Further results also show that the more social skill workers have, the more social interactions they have. Finally, based on the results of this study, this paper puts forward some reasonable policy recommendations about how to enhance workers' core competitiveness in the labor market; To a certain extent, this paper also provides some reference for the Chinese government to take into account the "protection and improvement of people's livelihood" and the development of artificial intelligence.
