A Probe Into Social Work Intervention In The Construction Of Elderly Volunteers

With the all-round development of society,the elderly are not passive to receive the help and care of others.On the contrary,the elderly are increasingly becoming an important force that cannot be ignored in society.At present,more and more elderly people are actively involved in the cause of volunteer service and gradually developed it into a habit and instinct in Chinese cities.Older people have a clear life experience and time advantage in volunteering.After years of experience,the elderly have mastered important knowledge and skills.They are potential human resource in the society.After retirement,they have spare time to provide volunteers service.However,due to the transition from a previously familiar work area to a completely unfamiliar work area,the elderly lack the necessary volunteering knowledge and skills to face some difficulties when they get into service trouble.As a practical profession,social work has a systematic professional method to solve practical problems.Therefore,social work in the elderly volunteer service has a unique advantage.On the one hand,it can help to fill the professional knowledge and skills needed by the elderly to provide volunteer service,and help them to build the platform of volunteer service through the integration of resource to improve the quality and level of service volunteer;On the other hand,also can meet their needs of spiritual communication and expression,and maintain their self-identity,preventing them falling into social isolation.Further help the elderly volunteer actively respond to aging and promote the development of physical and mental health of elderly volunteers.Based on the author’s internship experience,this paper takes the social work service purchased by the government-W Social Service Center to intervene in the X community elderly volunteer service as the base point,and explores the service effect of social work in the process of actually intervening in the construction of the elderly volunteer team and the deficiencies in the service.On this basis,I put forward the future social work to developing the suggestions and countermeasures of the construction of the elderly volunteer team.First of all,through the participatory observation method,I deeply participated in the "Old Make-up,Ambassador to Music" group to understand some aspects of the W Social Service Center’s involvement in the construction of the elderly volunteer team in the X community.Secondly,targeted interviews conducted with social workers and elderly volunteers.Comprehensively obtained the data,and conducted a detailed analysis of the social work involved in the construction of the elderly volunteer team in X community,po:inting out the service results and difficulties in the service,such as:insufficient preparation in the early stage of intervention,social workers shortage,the intervention to assess the form of forms and so on.Thirdly,analyze the main factors affecting the social work intervention in the construction of the elderly volunteer team in the X community,and find out the reasons for the problems in the service process.In the process,it was found that the lack of the professional knowledge and skills of social workers,and lack of introduction of social work talents,the lack of evaluation ability of assessors,single source of funds for activities and single method of intervention severely restricted the improvement of the quality of social work services.Finally,from the perspective of social work,in response to the problems arising from the construction of the old volunteer team in the W Social Service Center,the recommendations and countermeasures for improving the construction of the elderly volunteer team are proposed from the three levels of community,social service center and social workers.
