With the development of the teaching Chinese as a foreign language,the importance and urgency of teaching Chinese characters to foreigners are also increasingly prominent.The author has been teaching Chinese volunteers for nearly two years in the public secondary schools in the Philippines and found that there are some common problems in the teaching of'Chinese characters in the public middle schools in the Philippines.For example,there is no special teaching materials for Chinese characters and local Chinese teachers do not attach importance to teaching Chinese characters.Chinese characters generally exist such as fear psychology.Based on this,the author conducts an in-depth analysis and research on the status quo of Chinese characters teaching and the errors in Chinese character acquisition for the teaching-held schools in the Confucius Classroom of the San Francisco High School.This paper analyzes,sorts,classifies and classifies the students' class exercises,dictation materials and Chinese characters errors collected in the normal course,and analyzes the characteristics and causes of errors in Chinese characters acquisition.In the fourth chapter of this article,I put forward some suggestions for improvement of Chinese character teaching.According to the status quo of Chinese character teaching and considering the requirements of the YCT(Youth Chinese Test),students in Chinese class are divided into primary and intermediate Advanced two stages,respectively,different Chinese character acquisition phase proposed corresponding teaching strategies of Chinese characters.In the last chapter of this article,the author elaborates the theory of teaching strategies of Chinese characters in the previous chapter,and designs detailed teaching plans for the teaching of Chinese at the initial stage and in the intermediate and advanced stages respectively,combining the theory with practice so as to improve the teaching of Chinese characters The efficiency of Chinese character teaching improves students readability of Chinese characters.
