Building faculty teams becomes more and more important as present secondary vocational schools are in the changing course of preferring quality to quantity.The school-based teaching research and training,which is "based on school,for school and at school",provides a necessary approach to improve the overall quality of faculty teams in secondary vocational schools.The school-based teaching research and training conbines school-based teaching research and school-based teachers' training on the basis of self-reflection,peer-coaching and expert-guidance.Its essence lies in educational activities which inextricably interweave the reaserch and the training within each other,and focuses on school-level compulsory trainings as well as on individual-and-group initiated researches.This study aims to expore the status quo,current problems and needs of secondary vocational schools with an investigation through questionaires and interviews.By analyzing the statistics,the study made an instructive theoretical probe into the issue of how to build an effective shool-based teaching research and training in aspects of its objectives,contents,methods and assessments.The study also has certain practical significance in inducing three cases of school-based teaching reaserch and training so as to lead to the author's thoughts and conclusion.The study makes a tentative attempt to define the school-based teaching research and training,and clarifies the difference between school training and school-based teaching reserch and training,which provides useful suggestions in both theory and practice of the school-based research and training in secondary vocational schools.
