The postgraduate education is at the highest level of higher education.Because of this,there are essential differences between postgraduate training and undergraduate and other levels of personnel training.These differences permeate the whole process of postgraduate training.In 2015,the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council made a major strategic decision to build world-class universities and first-class disciplines,and pointed out that "in order to achieve new breakthroughs in the construction of high-level universities in China,it is necessary to put the construction of first-class graduate education system in an important position".The report of the Nineteenth National Congress pointed out that talent is the strategic resource to realize national rejuvenation and win the initiative of international competition.It can be seen that talents,especially high-level talents,play an inestimable and important role in the development of our country and national rejuvenation.Therefore,it is necessary to conduct in-depth investigation and research on the training of high-level talents,especially postgraduates in Minzu universities.Through literature review and in-depth analysis,we knew the relevant research status of postgraduate training at home and abroad,especially in Minzu universities in China.It is found that the current research mainly focuses on the training mode and school-running characteristics,and there are some problems such as single content,narrow perspective and so on.Therefore,we need to explore the development process and existing problems of postgraduate training in Minzu universities.We took Northwest Minzu University as an example.Firstly,through collecting and sorting out the school archives data and official website data,it grasps the origin,change and development course of postgraduate training in Northwest Minzu University.According to the five-year plan for national development and the actual situation of school development,the course of postgraduate training in Northwest Minzu University is divided into three stages: before the 11 th Five-Year Plan,during the 11 th Five-Year Plan and during the 12 th Five-Year Plan.We also have a detailed analysis of the scale of postgraduates,subject settings,teachers and employment in these three periods.Secondly,according to the latest data collected,this paper describes and analyses the current situation of postgraduate training in Northwest Minzu University in terms of the scale of postgraduates,subject settings,faculty and potentialemployment prospects.In order to understand their understanding of postgraduate cultivation from the perspective of postgraduates themselves,a questionnaire survey and structured interviews were conducted among postgraduates of Northwest Minzu University,so as to grasp the status quo and problems of postgraduate management,tutor guidance,postgraduate self-management and so on.Finally,through the comprehensive analysis and discussion of the existing data,we conclude that there are some problems in the graduate training of Northwest Minzu University,such as the weak quality of students,the imperfection of disciplines and majors,the implementation of graduate employment guidance,and the strengthening of the construction of tutors.To solve these problems,we put forward the following countermeasures: first,improve the way of enrollment,improve the quality of students;second,improve the discipline and professional settings,enrich the curriculum content;third,pay attention to the construction of teachers and strengthen the guidance of teachers.Of course,these suggestions need the active cooperation of the relevant departments in order to achieve the goal,so as to make due contributions to the improvement of the quality of postgraduate training in Northwest Minzu University.
