Objective: Based on the exercise intensity, the present study explored the effects between acute aerobic exercise with different intensity and executive function. In order to reveal the difference effects between the acute aerobic exercise with different intensity. The paper focuses on the relationship between exercise intensity and executive function in aerobic exercise. And we also want to discovery the effects of the different exercise intensity on each sub-functions.From the perspective of exercise intensity. We can provide practical advices for adolescent to choose reasonable aerobic exercise to improve executive function.Subjects and methods: The subjects were 36 adolescents aged 15-17 years. And the intervention of exercise was to ride 30 mins bicycle with light intensity and moderate intensity. The inhibition was tested by Flanker. The working memory was measured by 2-back and the switching was assessed by More-odd shifting. All of these processes were measured on the computer program E-prime 2.0.Finally,we use one-way ANOVA and repeatedmeasures ANOVA to determine the nature of interaction effects. The simple effects were examined with Bonferroni-corrected for post hoc comparisons. Then,to account for variance related to baseline part.Results:(1)Compared with the average RPE during acute exercise with light intensity, the average RPE during moderate intensity was significantly higher(p<0.001),and the average working heart rate in moderate intensity was more higher than light intensity(p<0.001).(2)Among the effects of acute aerobic exercise on executive function, the main effect of intensity was significant(p<0.001).Specifically,there was no significant difference on NormRT between light intensity and moderate intensity(p<0.05).(3)The main effect of task was significant. It was found that there were significant differences between the Flanker and 2-back,switching task on NormRT(p<0.05).There were also significant differences between 2-back and switching task on NormRT(p<0.05).(4)The interaction between intensity and task was significant(p<0.001).However,the effects of acute aerobic exercise on the 3 sub-functions were not consistent.Because not all the sub-functions of executive function could promoted by aerobic exercise.Conclusion:(1)There have significant changes in RPE and heart rate in acute aerobic exercise with light and moderate intensity.Which confirms the effectiveness of the 2 exercise schemes.(2)Compared with baseline, acute aerobic exercise with light and moderate exercise can significantly improve the executive function. But there is no significant difference between the different intensity.(3)The most simple task is Flanker. So the reaction time is more faster. And the 2-back is the most difficult task.(4)The inhibition in adolescents can not be improved by acute aerobic exercise. The aerobic exercise can improve the working memory, and the moderate is better than the light. The cognitive flexibility can be improved by exercise. There is no difference between the two intensities. |
