Study On Social Work Service For Minority Families In Poverty

Currently,China's help-the-poor work is confronted with arduous tasks.Since General Secretary Xi put forward the concept of taking targeted measures in poverty alleviation in 2013,the work of poverty reduction in our country has entered a new stage.Under this social background,taking the poor families of ethnic minority groups as the service object,this paper explores how social work can provide services for ethnic minority poverty-stricken families and their members so as to help them to shake off poverty steadily.From the perspective of social support and empowerment theory,emphasis is placed on changing individual social networks to promote their role in personal life.Especially for those who lack social support network,social workers should help them establish necessary social support networks and improve their ability to use social support networks.Social workers actively guide service objects to eliminate negative evaluation caused by subjective factors,make them realize that they can play their own strength in the process of solving the problem,enhance their ability to change their living conditions and achieve the purpose of coping with the external environment.The writer practiced in the poverty alleviation office in Luochaojing Town,Fenghuang County,Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture in 2017.In the process of practice,with the help of the poverty alleviation office and local village and town cadres,the writer has come into contact with the ethnic minority poverty-stricken families studied in this paper,made an in-depth investigation into their family's basic conditions such as social support,personal power and so on.Moreover,the writer analyzes the social support status of this minority families,that is,formal support and informal support,as well as the status of family members' personal power.After the survey,through the combination of the government's poverty alleviation resources and social work service methods,the writer helps the service target to improve family and kinship relations,enhance and consolidate the social support network,strengthen the confidence of social interaction and achieve the belief of getting rid of the predicament through their own efforts.At the end of the paper,the writer rethinks from two aspects.First,the residential areas of ethnic minorities are usually located in lofty mountains and large rivers where the transportation condition is poor,economic and social activities are basically confined to their own narrow areas,the administrative intervention and the external communicating are weak.It is not conducive to the exchange of information with the outside world.There are relatively few opportunities to benefit from economically developed areas.The economic and social development is backward,and the life quality of ethnic minorities is low.In this region,unilateral poverty alleviation activities will be weakened.Combined with the government's poverty alleviation resources,social work services help service objects to stimulate their poverty alleviation while solving the poverty-stricken ethnic minority families' poverty situation through multiparty coordination.In addition,as most poor ethnic minority families are greatly influenced by traditional culture and customs,the difficulties they face should be partly derived from their national characteristics,which is the difference between the impoverished minority families and the poor families.In the face of this kind of service object,it is necessary to pay attention to the principle of individuation,otherwise,it is likely to mislead the cause of the service object.
