The reform of Chinese curriculum has led to a change in the way Chinese teaching materials are arranged.As a result,Chinese teachers need to change the traditional single text-based mode of teaching and put forward the thematic mode of teaching according to the needs of actual teaching.Under the guidance of “holistic” and “integrative” philosophy,this paper chooses junior high school novels trying to formulate achievable "instrumental" and "humanistic" goals for the thematic mode of teaching and designing teaching activities under the same theme,which greatly help to promote the “integrative” philosophy of teaching.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part analyzes the present situation and shortcomings of the teaching of junior high school novels.In terms of case-based teaching,teachers take the teaching of novels as a case.During the class,teachers analyze the “When,Where,Who,What,How and Why” of the story and discusses the specifics of the story with students,making the class into a case study session;With regard to information filtering-based teaching,too much effort is put into analyzing the content of the story while ignoring the stimulation and experience of emotions;As for genre-based teaching,teachers focus on the analysis of writing techniques and ignore the feelings and opinions conveyed by the novel;Regarding the module-based teaching,teachers base their teaching on four elements of the novel and organize answers accordingly which reduce the readability of the novel.The second part examines the characteristics of the thematic mode of teaching and puts forward the basic meaning and basic characteristics of the thematic mode of teaching.The theme in the thematic mode of teaching is a broad concept,covering the teaching content of several novels,quality-oriented teaching goals,the modularization of the mode of teaching,the integrity of teaching content and the exploration of teaching methods.In the third part,this paper discusses the theoretical basis and basic principles of the thematic of teaching from a theoretical point of view.Judging from the standards of the Chinese curriculum and the arrangement of Chinese teaching materials,one may realize that the thematicmode of teaching is in line with the philosophy of students' independent development and the improvement of language quality.In the fourth part,this paper selects junior middle school novels for the design and application of the thematic of teaching.With the results and post-class surveys of classes implementing the thematic mode of teaching,the teaching feedback will be collected.The fifth part reexamines the thematic mode of teaching.Through theory and practice,the thematic of teaching has been proved to have its uniqueness.To be specific,it can achieve the integration of curriculum resources and improve students' ideological level.At the same time,it has certain limitations,imposes high requirements for teaching conditions and tends to ignore the“instrumental” teaching of Chinese.
