In the 1990 s,STEM(Science,Technology,Engineering,Mathematics)education emerged as a new educational concept in the United States,which has been a wave of educational reform,and has been used by many countries in teaching,emphasizing the establishment of links between disciplines,breaking through disciplinary boundaries,improving the multi-level scientific knowledge system,and improving the ability to solve practical problems common to life.To cultivate students' comprehensive accomplishment and establish innovative thinking.STEM education shows a new view of education and students,is a new teaching theory and teaching method.STEM education conforms to the new reform idea of the new “full-time compulsory education chemistry curriculum standard”,which is the need of talent reserve and social development and is also the main way to cultivate student comprehensive accomplishment.Chemistry belongs to the category of science,but experiments in chemistry are especially important.It not only enhances the engineering design ability of students,but also helps them to improve their hands-on ability.The integration of chemistry and STEM education into a new teaching model is the main channel for implementing STEM education.This paper uses the methods of reading literature method,PTA meter method and data statistical analysis method,uses the new teaching mode of middle school chemistry and STEM education,and analyses the implementation of junior middle school chemistry education in combination with constructivism theory,humanism theory and independent learning theory.Summarize the role of this teaching model in stimulating students' interest in learning,independent learning and constructing knowledge.Using the principles of comprehensiveness,practicability,practical interest and education,and according to the new teaching model,we selected chemistry textbooks for junior middle school with Guangdong education publishing house,designed three teaching cases,“air purifier”,“nature of carbon dioxide”,“where did salt go”,and tested the teaching effect of the new teaching model with PTA teachers scale,PTA group mutual evaluation and student self-evaluation scale.The results show that the students' ability of information expression,team cooperation and project operation have been improved to a certain extent by using the new teaching model.It shows that the teaching mode of junior high school chemistry combined with STEM education can improve the students' ability of comprehensive application of knowledge,practical operation and students' comprehensive accomplishment,and can improve the effect of junior high school chemistry teaching.
