With the development of science and technology and the process of society,the demand for engineering talents has been expanded and more attention has been paid in engineering education area.Chinese engineering education main in undergraduate level,K-12 engineering education has long been absent from our education system.Due to the lack of K-12 engineering curriculum experience and academic reduction,it is difficult for primary and secondary schools in China to implement engineering education in separate pattern.Considering these issues,we refer to the integration idea of STEM education and propose using the integration of setting engineering practice into science curriculum as an approach to organize and implement engineering education in junior school to promote students' cognition in engineering field and foster engineering practice competence.The research aims to design the learning objectives,content framework and teaching process mode and other core elements of science integrated engineering idea and explore the effective mode by empirical research,which included the following two parts:(1)Design the learning objectives.Based on the theoretical analysis of the relationship between the science education and engineering education,establishing the primary engineering education objectives in curriculum integration perspective to develop students' engineering practice competence and comprehend engineering and related professions preliminary.(2)Develop content framework.Considering the characteristics and requirements of subject integration,learning objectives of science integrated engineering and cognitive level and experience foundation of junior school students,the selecting principle of engineering knowledge and engineering practice will be provided to construct content base for the development of engineering practice competence.(3)Exploration the effective teaching modes.Based on the process mode of engineering practice,teaching mode and teaching strategy will be discussed and designed to provide the teaching support.(4)Empirical analysis.After the theoretical design of the learning objectives,content framework and teaching process mode,the science integrated engineering experiment of was carried out in the seventh grade class in Shanghai.The development of students' engineering practice competence was obtained by paper test,work sample,and the performance of students' engineering practice competence with different scientific achievements was acquired by interview survey.The theoretical design of science integrated engineering was proved by quantitative and qualitative research results.The results showed that teaching activities of science integrated engineering promote the development of students' engineering practice competence.Besides,science learning and students' cognition and professional tendency of engineering were promoted together.Research conclusion and recommendation were given out finally.
