In recent years,children's classics reading have been a hot topic discussed in the society.As time goes on,the discussion focus has shifted from “whether children should be allowed to read classics in primary schools” to “how to scientifically and effectively carry out classical reading in primary schools." On the basis of abundant pedagogy,educational psychology theory and compulsory education Chinese curriculum standard,this paper defines several core concepts,and analyzes the value of Chinese classics reading in primary schools under the background that the state has attached great importance to Chinese traditional culture since the 19 th CPC National Congress.Through extensive literature review,field interviews with students,parents and teachers,as well as observation and learning of excellent classes,the author tries to comprehensively and objectively understand the current situation of schoolbased classical Chinese reading courses in primary schools in China.Moreover,the problems existing in the process of classical recitation and the corresponding reasons are explored.Finally,practical and feasible countermeasures to Chinese classical reading in primary schools are proposed from the perspectives of content,time,quantity,environment,teaching method and evaluation mechanism,expecting to provide an effective reference for the inheritance of Chinese traditional culture and the cultivation of children's Chinese literacy and contribute to the enhancement of the cultural self-confidence and cultural identity of the whole nation.
