Assessment is essential for teachers and school administrators to track down the overall development of students in practical education.The assessment is already spread into all layers of education.The evaluation from teacher is a key ingredient to affecting the academic achievement of students.The field of education assessment has shifted from selection functions that are overemphasized in traditional teaching to “assessment for enhancing learning”.The evaluation from teachers has become an important part of elementary education reform in China.The study takes PE teachers of middle school in Henan Province as the research subject to figure out the connotation,structure and cultivation of the Teaching Assessment Literacy of PE teachers in middle school by literature review,questionnaires,mathematical statistics,and logical analysis methods.From the data analyzed by the researcher,it is easy to draw the conclusion that:1.The Teaching Assessment Literacy(TAL)of PE teachers in middle school refers to the professional qualities and core abilities for PE teachers to enhance students' health,inspire students' interest in sports,and cultivate lifelong sports awareness and ability in physical education teaching activities.It consists of the assessment consciousness from the teaching needs and the teacher-student relationship,the assessment knowledge in pedagogy and sports education,the assessment attitude led by the reasons and assessment skills on how to evaluate.2.The overall performance of the TAL of PE teachers of middle school in Henan Province is satisfactory.There is a big difference in the assessment consciousness.In terms of assessment attitudes,it is generally agreed that the assessment of physical education conducted is basically based on the assessment of physical fitness and health standards that are carried out on the basis of the examination standards for physical education;the students' participation in sports activities,sports interest,and habits for physical exercises are rare effective.For students' interests,habits,emotions and other aspects of the assessment is the lack of appropriate assessment criteria and operational demonstration.On assessment skills,most teachers are capable of designing assessment goals scientifically,adopting teaching assessment methods in a rational way,and taking the instructional feedback to adjust teaching plans.About the assessment knowledge,the understanding of teaching assessment of PE teachers in middle school is relatively sufficient.In the teaching process,assessment methods can be selected by the teacher according to the teaching objectives.Besides,they can know more about their students by classroom monitor,design the class activities according to students' learning process and the effective feedback is provided for students' athletic performance.3.Factors that affect the TAL of physical education teachers in middle schools include internal factors and external factors.The internal factors mainly include pre-employment learning experience and post-employment teaching practice.External factors are made of social factors,school factors and parent factors.4.The approaches to improve the TAL of PE teachers in middle school are: In the aspect of the system,the importance on TAL should be greatly attached in professional standards of physical education teachers;To reinforce the curriculum settings on TAL in the teachers' certification system;To increase the standards for the TAL in the teachers' recruit system;To weaken the text-orientation of the Physical Education System for the Senior High School Entrance Examination.From the standpoint of schools,it is advisable to build a platform for TAL,create a school assessment atmosphere,conduct the training on teaching assessment to enhance the TAL of PE teachers,establish a campus environment that promotes the TAL of PE teachers.In the perspective of teachers,they are supposed to activate the motivation for TAL promotion,actively participate in various teaching and training activities on TAL,and expand the knowledge of TAL.In addition,the teacher is encouraged to apply various assessment methods in practical teaching to promote the TAL.
