The regional geography plays vital role in geography teaching in junior middle school.As for the present situation of geography teaching in junior middle school,most teachers are based on the course teaching template,introduce the concept "location,topography,climate,river,agriculture,industry,city and traffic".This teaching method ignores the comprehensive relation between the geographical elements and leads students to think that regional geography learning is just "stereotyped memory".It makes the students cut off the connection between the major elements of the region,and it is unable to develop the students' ability to understand the geographical principles and laws.In order to change the current teaching situation in regional geography in junior middle school and improve the effect of geography teaching,this paper puts forward a new teaching strategy of regional geography--"3 W" teaching strategy.The "3W" teaching strategy in this paper refers to the "Why-Where-What" teaching strategy,which means"to introduce new courses with geographical phenomena(Why)to induce students to think","to solve the problem,we need to know the geographical location(Where)" and "obtain geographical features(what)".The "3W" teaching strategy will make the knowledge flexible,strengthen the connection among the geography elements,and stimulate the students' learning interest,help them to build up knowledge structure,guide them to think independently and acquire learning method.In practice,the application process of "3W" teaching strategy is generally divided into the following three steps:(1)Introduce the problem about the geographical environment phenomenon into the new course;(2)let the students fill the map to understand the geographical location;(3)Analyze the problems and recognize the geographical environmental characteristics."3W" teaching strategy helps to construct a clear regional geographic knowledge structure.The three steps of the teaching strategy of "3W" are coherent,and the structure is rigorous."3W" teaching strategy highlights the relationship between regional geographic elements.It ensures the integrity of the students' understanding of regional geography."3W" teaching strategy helps to cultivate students' interest in learning.The problem-led introduction of the course is conducive to stimulating students' interest in learning.In order to evaluate the effect of "3W" teaching Strategy,the "3W" teaching strategy practice is carried out with "Taiwan Province" as an example.Six classes in Nanchang 19th middle school were randomly divided into experimental group and control group,"3W" teaching strategy was adopted in the experimental group,while the traditional teaching strategy was adopted in the control group.The questionnaire survey and homework feedback shows that:compared with the traditional teaching strategy,"3W"teaching strategy makes the course more clear,the learning atmosphere more active,stimulates the study interest,and enhances the study confidence.In addition,"3W"teaching strategy helps students master the method of studying regional geography.
