As the size of floating population increasing, they have been an important part of the cities in China.Chinese government and scholars have concerned issues related to floating population. The report on the work of the government which delivered on March,2018 pointed out that the vast majority of cities in China have eased restrictions on permanent residency. And a residence card system has been put into effect nationwide, and basic urban public services now cover all permanent residents.Focus on the study of floating population,it is fundamental subject of demography as well as the social demand of the new era.On the other hand, with the rapid development of Chinese economy and society,Chinese people have changes in their marriage and childbearing behaviors. What’s hidden behind the social and economic phenomenon caused by single young people and the second child in the family is demographic principles. This thesis studies the marriage and childbearing behaviors of the floating population in urban China from the perspective of time.Basing on the methods of Event History Analysis, this thesis studies the floating population living in urban China in the aspects of marriage and childbearing behaviors.Using Migrants Population Dynamic Monitoring Survey Data, both of the floating population and the household registered population are investigated in eight cities. These cities are Beijing,Shanghai,Dalian,Wuxi,Hangzhou,Hefei,Guangzhou and Guiyang.Kaplan Meier Estimation and Accelerated Failure Time Model of Log Logistic Distribution are combined to analyze the age at first marriage, age at first birth as well as first and second birth intervals. The results illustrate that comparing with the household registered population, the floating population has a higher risk of first marriage and second birth while their risk of first birth is lower. Moreover, the impact of geographic range which the floating population migrating on the timing ofmarriage and birth is statistically significant.Comparing with city level, migration on province level shows higher risk of first marriage and lower risks of first birth and birth intervals, while migration on county level shows later first birth and longer second birth interval.
