The Intervention Research Of "Forgiveness Treatment" In The Depression Of Cancer Patients

With the rapid development of the society,the Biomedical Model has been gradually displaced by the Bio-Psycho-Social Model.Meanwhile,the incidence of cancer is gradually higher,and the cancer patients who have depression are more and more than before.Therefore,it is deserved to pay more attention to the psychological situation of cancer patients during their treatment.In the past researches,it is almost popular to use “Cognitive Treatment” method to intervene the depression,eventually with obvious results.As a new theory,“Forgiveness Treatment” can be regarded as a specific way of “Cognitive Treatment”.Using the method of “Forgiveness Treatment”to release depression of cancer patients is a new direction of research.Based on the “Forgiveness Treatment” of Enright,the whole process includes four periods.And the research is comprised of casework and group work.The casework has six talks,and the group work has three activities.The four periods are:firstly,the Uncovering Phase,to improve clients' self-cognition in depression and the negative effects;secondly,the Decision Phase,to encourage the clients to make the determination of forgiveness;Thirdly,the Work Phase,to help clients release depression by “Forgiving the disease” and ”Forgiving themselves”;Finally,the Outcome Phase,to help clients conclude the psychological efforts during the treatment time and find the meaning of life.“Forgiveness Treatment” is aimed at decreasing the “hurt” that cancer creates for clients,and reduce their self-accusation,so as to help them shift the negative depression to optimistic emotion.The assessment was implemented in the qualitative way.In conclusion,the casework and group work has made clients' depression shifted to the optimistic orientation.Therefore,the Intervention of ”Forgiveness Treatment” in the Depression of Cancer Patients deserves deeper research.Meanwhile,the practical profound of“Forgiveness Treatment” in medical social work is quite wide,because it can also work for multi-aspects and multi-objects beside of the depression and cancer patients.However,there is no denying that “Forgiveness Treatment” was spread from west countries,and there must be much cultural and concept challenge when it is applied in China.The good development of “Forgiveness Treatment” needs medical social workers' persevering efforts,the professional development of social work and the governments' continuous improvement in medical assistance system etc.
